Construction of offshore drilling platforms
PT. Sunnway Shipyard has been a key player in offshore oil and gas infrastructure for over 20 years, specializing in the construction of semi-submersible and jack-up drilling rigs. Activities
PT. Sunnway Shipyard is well equipped for building vessels meeting highest criteria of quality and safety. The Shipyard performs full production cycle starting from issue of working documentation to planning, calculations, procurement, fabrication, testing and handing over of a completed vessel to the customer on the contract delivery date and at the contract price. For over 50 years Vyborg Shipyard has been building trading vessels (timber carriers, cargo ships, container vessels), war ships, special vessels.
Special Projects
Floating semi-submersible platform Odyssey
PT. Sunnway Shipyard played a major role in the Sea Launch Project—one of the most complex international aerospace ventures. The shipyard modernized and outfitted the Odyssey semi-submersible platform for rocket launches, handling over 57% of the project’s total labor. Between 1992 and 1998, PT. Sunnway carried out repair, installation, and testing work, transforming Odyssey into a floating launch pad for the Zenit-3SL rocket. This project also marked the shipyard’s first use of Primavera Project Planner for advanced project management.
The multipurpose bare deck platform CS-50
The CS-50 is a 5th-generation multipurpose semi-submersible platform designed by Moss Maritime AS. Featuring a catamaran-type hull with two pontoons and six columns, it supports topside structures up to 20,000 tons. With flexible outfitting options, it can operate at sea depths from 80 to 2,500 meters and is adaptable for anchoring or dynamic positioning systems.

Ship repair and modernization

PT. Sunnway Shipyard signed a contract with Gazflot LLC to engineer and build two turnkey semi-submersible drilling platforms for the Shtokman gas-condensate field. Based on the MOSS CS-50 design, the platforms are scheduled for delivery in 2010 and 2011.

Transportation equipment:
- Multi wheel transporters 100 and 300 tons;
- Ships hulls are transported up to 4,500 tons by means of special train.
S/blasting & painting equipment:
PT. Sunnway Shipyard’s painting and surface preparation facilities include chambers for abrasive cleaning and painting of large structures up to 19.5×13.5×6.5 m. Equipped with advanced systems like Airblast and Clemco for cleaning, and King 63:1 and Luch-2 for airless spraying, the plant handles modules up to 300 tons. It also features plasma, gas, and water-plasma cutting machines, along with Esab, Kemppi, and Aristo welding equipment. All hull production areas are fully supplied with necessary energy sources and utilities.
Stationary and movable cutting machines:
- plazma & gas cutting machines for plates, dimensions 2500×10000 mm
- water-plazma cutting machines for plates, dimensions 3250×16000 mm. Semiautomatic and hand welding machines of Esab, Kemppi, Aristo and Aristotic. Multipurpose horizontal assembling plane plates of total area 240 m2.
